Schools & organizations

We have had many dealings with moving local schools due to renovations taking place.

We have assisted in the moving of St Mary's at Rydalmere; St Joan of Arc, Haberfield; St Anthony's Marsfield, Holy Spirit North Ryde, Ryde Secondary College, Putney Public School and St Charles Primary, Ryde.

Not only does this need to be streamlined with the minimum of fuss, the children's welfare and safety has to be first and foremost.

The smaller children get very excited when the big trucks and the men arrive. On some of the moves the teachers have worked in with us that the children have been given a small role in the moving to their new class room or out of their old one.

When the children are not involved we always make sure we have more than one person around when the trucks are moving. Children are fast - sometimes too fast and in their excitement in seeing the trucks, they do not always listen to instructions and turn up unexpectedly to watch or help, so we are always aware that this might happen and our workers are given instructions before they leave the depot to make sure the children's safety is their priority.

It is all very well to do a brilliant job, but if 1 child is hurt, nothing can compensate for that. We pride ourselves on our safety awareness for everyone concerned - whatever the move.
